Off to an Incredible Start
It's a Sam-o-palooza around here. His senior year has been going well! He was pleased to be on the homecoming court but equally pleased not to be king. After loosing their first two games of the season they won their homecoming game at home and then the next week at an away game, beat an undefeated team, on their homecoming night, at their field. He's been named a Believer and Achiever (not totally sure what that means, I believe it's a local scholarship program) and is a semifinalist for a National Merit Scholarship. Wow.
Lest any rumors get started amongst my many, many blog readers, Samuel is not dating this girl, she is just who he got paired up with for the Homecoming Parade because her last name is next to ours in the alphabet!
Congratulations Samuel!
Samuel is a semifinalist for a National Merit Scholarship. He qualified by scoring very high on his PSAT, which they take at school their junior year. He had to take the SAT as the next step and we are waiting to hear what to do now that he has his SAT score.
We are, of course, super proud of how smart Samuel is. He has a God-given ability to learn that he makes the most of. I have to say, though, that although I'm very proud of his smarts, I am far more proud of how he answers the texts of every friend with a chemistry question, takes time to mess around with his little brother after a game on the football field that little brother dreams of following Sam's footsteps onto, makes a point to wave at the little kids he knows who are looking up at him in the back of the convertible he's sitting in as part of the Homecoming Court parade and encourages his teammates, whether freshman or seniors, to give their all at every practice and game.
Use those smarts for the good of others Sam because that is where true greatness lies!
Goal Accomplished
One of my main senior parent goals was to get Samuel's senior pictures taken before school started. His time is at a premium once classes, sports, FFA and band get started so I knew we'd be happy to already have it finished. I am proud to say I accomplished my goal! It worked out well, I used one of his senior pics for my big head and he used one for a couple for scholarship things he was working on. We don't have the final CD with all the pictures on it yet, in part because we were slow in choosing our favorites from the 950 Coach John took (the wrestling coach is a photographer for one of him many side hustles) but here is a sneak peak:

So.Much.Football
Four boys, four teams. This should be the only year for that. Samuel and Thomas both play varsity. Samuel starts but Thomas just plays kickoffs and subs in so he also starts for the JV team. Philip is playing on the local midget tackle team and Nicholas is playing flag football. Since Samuel is a senior I've been going to the away varsity games,which I've never done before. I'm getting better at watching live football but I still fall for the fake a lot and have a hard time keeping track of what my boys on the line are doing and what going on with the football at the same time.
It's okay. I keep myself entertained with things like this:

We have an eighteen year old! Crazy but good. We're excited for your senior year Sam. Work hard and enjoy it.
We don't usually do much decorating for birthdays so I decided that's how we'd make 18 special.

I Started School Too
Maybe you can tell because the blog posts stopped again.
I'm super excited because it's my first third year ever. I quit after two years to stay home and then switched positions after two years of Kinder. It was looking like I might need to switch again for this year but everything worked out so I didn't have to! Glorious. Much less time consuming creating much more quick tweaking!
