Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary. Pope Benedict XVI

Alice in Wonderland

After being on crew for the one act, Julia decided to try being on stage for the spring musical.
She was a flower, which was part of the chorus.  She really enjoyed it!  The show was wonderful as always.

We all had fun going to see her.

This is John, everyone's favorite Mass friend.  He could have been in the caucus race.

The two in the middle were also flowers but had other, slightly bigger parts as well.
Can't wait to see you in more shows Julia!

Giving it His Best Shot

Thomas is throwing shot for track again this year.  I've made it to a couple meets.

He hasn't broken into the finals but he still enjoys missing school, spending an hour throwing (well mostly warming up and waiting for his turn but that's how it goes) and then eating snacks and watching his friends compete the rest of the day.

He does throw disc sometimes but I haven't made it to a meet to see that this year.

Beginning of the End

Our first end of the year thing was the FFA banquet.  Thomas hung up his jacket.

Apparently he has no white button down shirts he can button the top button on so he wore a school polo.  Snazzy.
These are the seniors!
Congrats on your FFA accomplishments Thomas!

God Bless the USA

St Wenceslaus did a patriotic spring program and sounded beautiful as always.

I guess I didn't get any pics other than onstage!

Double!

Julia wanted her ears double pierced for her birthday.  We "finally" went a couple weekends ago.  She did much better than the first time.

Great Job Thomas!

We went to Central Community College for signing day!
Thomas signed for both his Water Scott Scholarship and his program.
I guess signing for programs and scholarships is a thing now.  To keep up with sports maybe?

He also received a scholarship from the local Cattleman Association and one specific to our school.

Walter Scott covers tuition, room and board and the other two should pretty much cover his books and tools.  Great job Thomas!

Prom

So how do you like the jacket?
Amanda found it on Amazon, it matched her dress and it cost less than renting a tux.  So he sparkled.
It's pretty cute together.

He was definitely the least traditionally dressed, which kind of surprised me, but he didn't mind.
These are his buddies Adam, Max and Chisum.  They are all juniors.
This group were van-mates for last year's mission trip.  The boys have been hanging out together ever since.  In fact, they requested being together again this year.

Samuel had to come back to crown the new prom king.  Lydia won Queen (you can see her sash above) one of the Heimstra twins won king.  I can't remember which one but the other one was Homecoming king so that's fun.
I reveled in not being involved in Post prom after being in charge of the location last year.  Now we have a prom-free year!  Yay!

Follow up

So somehow we were talking about it and everyone admitted to knowing about Santa, the Easter bunny and the Tooth fairy.  A few days later this conversation happened:

Ph:  Mom, I lost a tooth!  Where's my dollar?

M:  The tooth fairy doesn't come until night.

Ph:  Mo-om!  We talked about this!  The tooth fairy isn't real!

He got the dollar.

Alleluia! Happy Easter!

We made Easter treats.
All the kids admitted to knowing about Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.  Guess what job I don't have to do after the Easter Vigil anymore?! (See Nicholas above.)

Samuel had to work late on Holy Saturday so he didn't come up until after Mass on Easter.

We spent the day with Grandma Raleen, Grandpa Steve and the Spickas.

Alleluia, He is risen indeed!

Gala

Julia got a fancy new hair wand for Christmas so she curled my hair for Gala, Neumann's benefit dinner.  As you can see, the first time was a little uneven...

We evened it up and it turned out nice!
Thanks Julia!

Junior High Music Contest

Philip and his friend Dylan played a duet for the junior high music contest.  They practiced after school once a week except I didn't know it until after wrestling season because Philip was smart enough to choose a day that he stayed for high school practice.  They practiced for 15 minutes after school and then he went to practice.  I was impressed with the plan.

They sounded great and earned a superior!  Great job Philip and Dylan!
