Samuel switched to VEX robotics this year. It's a lot different than Lego Robotics but still a ton of work. It's through school so he has three teammates from his class. It paid off last weekend though when his team (and their alliance for that day) won the meet! It's complicated. They have qualifying rounds to seed everyone. Then they go down the list top team to bottom and choose two teams to be allied with. So in the finals three teams are in an alliance and work together. Of course I left before the finals because the littles were getting restless. Oh well. I saw a bunch of rounds.

Also the teams all have a number. There was a team 8675 that was good. Surely I wasn't the only one who wanted to sing
three-oh-ni-i-ine every time their number was called! But no one around me looked like they would appreciate my joke. That team was pretty serious about their robotics.
