Six Months!

Nicholas has been six months for a couple of weeks now but we just had his well baby appointment last week.  He weighed in at 20 lbs 2 oz and 28 and 1/4th inches.

Because I think it's interesting here's what everyone else was at 6 months:

Samuel 19 lbs 3 oz 26 in
Thomas 20 lbs 1 oz 29 in
Julia 18 lbs 6 oz 26.5 in
Philip 19 lbs 2 oz 27 in

So it looks like Nicholas takes the lead in weigh from Thomas by an ounce but Thomas has 3/4 an inch over him in the height category.
Here they are all at six months, in no particular order:
Nicholas (I need to get him to Portrait Innovations soon)
Samuel
 Philip
 Thomas
 Julia
Who do you think he looks the most like?

Look What Baby Did

Dear Nicholas,
Um, someone seems to have forgotten to tell you, you are only six months old.  That is too young for this.
See, if the feet don't stay under you, you fall over.  That didn't feel so good did it?  I know you were real mad when I wouldn't let you do it again but I'm just trying to save your poor noggin from some bumps.   Maybe you should crawl first.  We can try the pulling up thing again in a couple months, okay?
Love, Mommy

Dates

Every summer I try to take each kid out individually on a "date."  We've tried to do it at home but since the choices are pretty limited, this year my parents were kind enough to host us for three days and watch whichever kids weren't out with me.
Thomas chose to go mini golfing.

 Julia picked the little zoo.
Samuel chose the state capital but we forgot the camera.
Philip went to the indoor playground.
Everyone also either got to have lunch or a treat while we were out and I took the opportunity for some one on one discussions.  It was a fun to get each one alone.  Nicholas is too young to date, he'll have to wait until next summer.  :)

Day Trip #3

The zoo.  We didn't make it last summer so the kids were especially excited to go this year.  It was a long, hot but fun day.

When They Grow Up

Our most recent project
It would be fun to do every summer and see how their ideas change.

What Nicholas has Been Up To

Uh-oh... no more tummy time for you!
He hasn't actually figured out how to move yet.  He's at that frustrated stage where you put them on their tummy and they try for a bit, get mad and then you roll 'em over or sit them up until next time.
He tried his first pureed food, squash.  He seemed to enjoy it.  He talked and cooed and opened up his mouth happily the whole time.

Swimming, Swimming

For next summer when I'm wondering:  Julia passed level one swim lessons and Samuel passed level three.  They were both really excited.  Thomas has made a ton of progress with Aunt Jen too.

This is what I get to look at when we're at the pool.  I love his squished up face and he loves looking around under water.  What does it look like?  "Watery" he says.
Suddenly it's much harder to go to the pool because they are all more confident in the water.  Philip goes under thanks to the "swim lessons" Thomas gave him, Julia can swim for as long as she can hold her breath (she has to stand up to breathe) and Thomas can swim around a bit and likes to go to the deeper area.  Thank God Nicholas is still stationary!

Day Trip #2

We went to the "other" Children's Museum.  It's not as good as the one we usually go to but this summer they have a fun bug area as their traveling exhibit that the kids wanted to see.
Check out Nicholas' dangling feet.  It's the same concept as a highchair, why is it more fun to play in?  Possibly because of the combination of a metal tray and wooden toys.  Good banging noises.

Six Months

I think he looks like a Cabbage Patch in this one.

Family Fun

We spent the day with Jeremy's parents and Jen, Mike and Aliza on Sunday.  I think Jeremy lost the water fight.  :)

Cousin Fun

Aunt Jen is giving Thomas private swimming lessons (which are going very well by the way, thanks to a great teacher who he trusts!)  so Aliza got to come play with us a couple days this week.

Sorry Philip, this is a girl game!
Julia loves mother henning Aliza- and having another girl around.

Adventuring

Due to a small boy's dislike of riding in a car while awake we decided not to take a long vacation this year.  Instead we're having fun on a few day trips like this one.  Aunt Beth joined us which made it even better!
Grandma Susan, please note Julia with the tea set in the collage above.  We took the picture so you could see it. :)

Summer Evening

Loving this weather but shouldn't we have had it in May?
