Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary. Pope Benedict XVI

First/Last Day Splits

Senior year!

They always change so much in 7th grade.

A little less difference from beginning to end of sophomore year.

Week O Fun 3rd Edition: Friday

Friday was Philip and Nicholas's last day of school.

Done with 7th grade!

Finished with sophomore year!

No crepe paper trails this year but Julia and I did pick up treats for the last day of school.

Julia and I kept prepping for her party and we went to one party that evening.  It was a pretty easy day!

Week O Fun 3rd Edition: Monday

Monday was the senior field trip.  They went to Ruff House in Fremont, had lunch at Arby's and then went back to school for baccelaureate and graduation practice.  It was also Drive Something Fun to School Day.

That night was the band concert.
They sounded great as usual!
These seniors have never gotten anything other than a 1 as a band.  Mr. Kellett got out all the trophies they've been a part of winning.

Philip's small group played Habanera. They earned a Superior with it at District music contest.  Don't know the song?  Think of the Sesame Street orange that sang opera. That's the one.

Isabelle was home so she came to the concert!

With Trinity

And of course, with Sofia

Apparently I did not make Philip take a picture with any friends.
Great concert everyone!

Nicholas's Wrestling Season

Nicholas wrestled from December to March.  I don't think I made it to as many as I sometimes do, there are limited pictures. 🤷‍♀️  He had a good season and got lots of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals.  He wrestled well at districts and made it back to State.  There were a lot of qualifiers from our Cavalry team but only 3 in junior high.

He also loved being a student manager for the high school team.  The managers practice with the high schoolers and they learn a lot!  The three boys were recognized at the banquet (Philip couldn't make it and I've forgotten why.)

He won one match at State and was happy about that.  He lost the next two so he was out but enjoyed the experience.

Great season Nicholas!

Confirmation

Nicholas received the sacrament of Confirmation on March 10th.  He chose a family friend, Jeff Shoeneck to be his sponsor and St. Hubert as his Confirmation saint.  St. Hubert is the patron of hunters and has an interesting story about skipping Mass to hunt and then seeing a stag with a cross between its antlers.  You can ask Nick if your interested in more of the story,

Here he is getting Confirmed.

Lots of Vranas were involved.  Thomas was the sponsor for Caleb Shoeneck (Jeff's son).
Julia sang in the choir.
And Philp served.

Here's our whole family.  (Nope, Julia's not looking but in the rest of them Sam's head is behind Nick.)

Nicholas with his Godparents,

with Grandma Raleen and Grandpa Steve, (with Grandma Susan and Grandpa Mike must be on Grandma's phone.)

with Jeff and Bishop Connelly.
and with our pastor, Fr. Luke Fleck.
Here's the whole group from Colon (and Cedar Bluffs).  It's a lot when you Confirm three years worth of kids!

Since Confirmation was on a Tuesday evening and Nicholas was still wrestling most weekends, we had the party a couple weeks later.  Most of the family was able to come and we enjoyed celebrating!

St. Hubert, pray for Nicholas!

Christmas Break Adventure

We hadn't been ice skating in years.  Like Nicholas doesn't remember because he was probably not born, Philip was a toddler type years.  There was a free day at Fremont's rink so we decided to go!

Philip picked it up quickly and had a great time.

Wowie, it made my calves BURN.  But it was fun.

Jeremy enjoyed himself too.

Nick took a little longer but he got the hang of it too.

We skated about an hour before we were totally pooped out.  And by then the kids who are free skate regulars had their legs under them and were starting to cause trouble (nothing big, just messing around and a breakable person like me was going to be the one who ended up with the spectacular fall) so it was a good time to leave.

Halloween

We are nearing our run of Halloween celebrating.  I didn't have to do anything to prepare which is how I like it.
Nick went out for a couple hours with friends and got PLENTY of treats.  The Perry the Platypus costume has been well loved.

Julia made herself a Chris Kratt costume and a friend went as Martin.  They did a friend Halloween party.

Philip went to the first round of football playoffs- which Neumann won!  So no costume for him.

Homecoming

Since the band is going to DC to march in the 250th anniversary parade they have a special little routine they do in the middle of parades.  They call it Cav Swag. They debuted it for the fair parade and pulled it back out for the Homecoming parade.

Nick got to go this year since he's in 7th grade.
Here's the annual senior photo.

I guess I didn't get a picture of Philip except when he was marching.
