Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the entirety of the pictures I took.

Very importatnt documenting of how we did the horn rolls:

Brining the turkey before we smoked it.

Julia making pecan pie.  Delicious!

And the traditional pumpkin turkey.

But we had a lovely time at Lynn's house and then celebrated with Steve, Raleen and the Spickas the following Sunday.

Football Class C-1 Championship

Well, it didn't end up as we hoped but they were runners up!  Great season boys.

For the freshmen the post season involved stretching and then freezing as they stood on the sidelines at practice.  But they got to be on the sidelines at Memorial Stadium with the team, even though they didn't play.  It was a great experience.  Memorial Stadium is way more fun with 80-some thousand less people than on Husker game day!

It was COLD.  They unearthed some coats that looked like they'd been around since the 70s.  But really, when they get worn once a year or less, why replace them?  The varsity got them first but they eventually trickled down to the freshmen, who were colder than the varsity since they were just standing around.  Philip refused for awhile since he "isn't a wuss" but finally did give in and take a turn.  He's the shorty in the middle.

Here's Philip getting his medal.

The band got to play during half time!  Mr. Kellett was very excited.  They just played two of their four songs since time was limited and they had to do some adapting since the 7ish football players obviously couldn't march.  They did a great job too!

Overall it was a really fun time!

We got to see the One Act again with Julia in her normal housekeeper role.  She did a great job!

She loved her British accent and performing!

One Act

Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of Something or Other.
Yeah, that's not it's real name.  I'll find out.
At this duel Julia got to play the main character, Wiggins because her friend Isabel was sick.  He's a street orphan in London who becomes an apprentice to Holmes.

She was excited to have a chance to play the role.

Normally she's Holmes's housekeeper (the girl in this pic).

They solved the mystery! Yay!  Although since it's a one act we didn't get the normal Sherlock Holmes full explanation of the clues so I'm interested to see if I pick up on more of them next time I watch.

They've had two performances so far with a handful more to come.  There's a home performance coming up so we should get to see her in her normal role then.

JV/Reserve Team

A mom who is a better football parent than I am sent me this team photo.
Philip is #52, middle front row. (Although his jersey is covered and it looks like a 57.)

Finally remembered to get a close up of him too!

Doane Festival of Winds

Julia was in Doane's Honor band.
Somehow I haven't gone to an honor band concert since I was in one.  They often conflict with sports events so I don't remember Sam really being in any.  Thomas went to one and hated it so he never went again.  Julia says she was in one last year.  Apparently I've never bothered to attend a concert.

Wow.  A band of 100 hand-picked excellent players sure is louder than Neumann's 30 some member band!
Note:  If Julia goes next year get there EARLY!  15 minutes was not enough to get a seat.  I sat on the floor for the first band's performance but had a great view.  Some parents left and I got a seat for Julia's performance.

Julia had a great time and the concert was really fun to listen to.  Julia has been auditioning for lots of other honor bands.  I'd better go to those concerts because who knows if Philip and Nicholas will be interested.

Buddies

Nick and his buddy Jacob Codr have had a couple of adventures lately.
At Urban Air with Sam Johnson for Jacob's birthday.

At Memorial Stadium for Nick's first Husker game!

Jacob's dad had tickets so Jeremy, Philip and Nicholas got to go.  Nebraska didn't pull out a win but they said it was still fun to watch.  And they even stayed dry.  Rain was forecasted for the whole game but it held off until afterward, which was a bonus.
