100th Day

It was my first 100 Day celebration in a classroom!!  I somehow never celebrated in all my college classroom work and 5th graders don't really count/celebrate either. 
I used an app called Oldify to turn all my students 100 years old!  It's hilarious.  I tried it out on the family first.  Missed Samuel though.

I also put 100 snowballs on Nicholas's penguin shirt. 

And beaded a 100 onto this shirt I found at the thrift store.  Thank goodness I won't have to do that again.  It took forever!  Needy family kept interrupting.  (The perfectionist in me really wants to do the inside circles so the zeros are block letters like the one.  But at 11 my practical self said "Kinders won't care.  Go to bed."  Maybe for next year.)  Yay for already having (more than- don't tell) 100 dots on it!

Robotics

Samuel switched to VEX robotics this year.  It's a lot different than Lego Robotics but still a ton of work.  It's through school so he has three teammates from his class.  It paid off last weekend though when his team (and their alliance for that day) won the meet!  It's complicated.  They have qualifying rounds to seed everyone.  Then they go down the list top team to bottom and choose two teams to be allied with.  So in the finals three teams are in an alliance and work together.  Of course I left before the finals because the littles were getting restless.  Oh well.  I saw a bunch of rounds.

Also the teams all have a number.  There was a team 8675 that was good.  Surely I wasn't the only one who wanted to sing three-oh-ni-i-ine every time their number was called!  But no one around me looked like they would appreciate my joke.  That team was pretty serious about their robotics.

Catholic Schools Week

Wow.  Catholic Schools Week is way more exhausting as a teacher than a parent (or a 20 something teacher like I was 15 years ago...)!
Monday Nick and my school took everybody bowling!  Bowling with kinders is fun!  About half had never bowled; after a few frames they were pros but s-l-o-w.  Yes, you get two tries every turn.  Then they realized I didn't have any turns (Why they ask?  Because y'all didn't know how to bowl for the first 30 minutes!)  so then they started giving me some of their second turns.  They don't understand the scoring.  :)

Julia and Philip had zoo animal day, complete with a visit from some animals from the Big Zoo!
The big boys had class retreats.  I can't remember the 7th grade theme but 8th's is service so Samuel went to Catholic Social Services for talks and some work.

Tuesday we all had Superhero day! (Well, not the big boys.  Big kids don't get theme days.)

Unfortunately I was sick that day, but found an amazing sub:  Mrs. Wonder!  Nick wore a cape and mask too but seems to have escaped picture taking.

Wednesday Nick and I had crazy accessory day but didn't take a picture...Julia and Philip had pajama day and watched a movie in the gym in the afternoon.  I don't remember what the big boys did, maybe just late start?

Thursday was school t shirt day for all of us.  Grandparents day for Samuel and Thomas, the Bishop came for Mass with the whole school and grandparents.  Open house for Julia and Philip... didn't take any pictures.  Parent Mass and lunch at Nicholas and mine.

Samuel and Thomas had a wrestling meet close to home on Thursday.  Not actually part of Catholic Schools Week but part of the exhausting fun.  (Maybe. I don't really count watching wrestling as fun.  But watching Junior High boys is a little less painful for me.)  My camera decided to go to night setting when I tried to take a picture of Thomas so I didn't get a good one.  Maybe next week.  They have a home meet so I'll go.

Friday the kids had off but I had a faculty retreat.  We had a morning of reflection at the Newman Center, then went to mandatory fun - bowling again.  My practice with the kinders sort of paid off.  My team won for the lowest score!

There were lots of fun activities every day too.  Movies, dancing, extra praying, games, programs...hence the exhaustion!  I wouldn't give it up for anything.

What Nicholas has been up to

 Oh, there he is!  He and Thomas think this is hilarious!

 He helped me with dinner one afternoon when I needed to have a casserole in the oven early.

And he did this puzzle mostly by himself.  He likes puzzles.  In 40 or 50 years he can go visit Aunt Beth in her retirement home and they'll have a grand old time!
