Grandma C

My Grandma C moved out of her house into an apartment this week. We have gotten a lot of good stuff she doesn't need anymore! We got the two recliners from downstairs. Which are very comfy. I thought maybe this blue one would have a Grandpa shaped indentation in it but it doesn't! The other one is pink. They replace the broken brown ones that are older than Jeremy that we got from his parents .We got the patio table and chairs which is fun. Many a good meal has been eaten at this table and hopefully many more! They already survived their first storm out here in the windy country.

We now have two more wooden chairs at the kitchen table so we don't have to worry about spills getting ground into the upholstery on the folding chairs. And another wooden chair we are using at the desk instead of the ancient ugly orange rolling one.

Perhaps best of all is Grandpa's old wheelbarrow that is now Sam's. He hauled in everything we brought home using it and didn't complain once. He and Thomas also used it yesterday to pick up sticks blown down by the storm, and we didn't even ask them to!

We got lots of other littler things too. A canner that I'll have to learn to use, lots of old books, some games, lots of framed pictures, kitchen things, plus stuff I can't think of off the top of my head. My favorite thing is a tea cup that I haven't taken a picture of. Now I have one from Grandma Irene and Grandma C.

I haven't seen the new place yet but I heard it's nice and am looking forward to visiting!

Sprinkler Time!

We broke out the sprinkler! It was pretty warm and the kids were melting from running around so much. Thomas got the sprinkler for his birthday so this was our first time trying it. Thomas liked hanging out at the end where he could play without getting too wet. Samuel loved the whole thing. Julia really wanted to play but she didn't really like the cold water. She did brave it a little.

I think it will get good use this summer.

The kids got out of school Friday

and we started our daily projects on Monday. We made paper quilts. Sam's is a butterfly and Thomas's is a "shoe taker offer."

The weather has been beautiful so we played outside too.Yesterday we had to go to town so we had a picnic at the park and then played with our new balls in the tennis courts (the fence kept the kids and the balls in!)Yay Summer!

Missed Opportunity

Ever since I started reading The Blog of Unnecessary Quotations (which, by the way, is hilarious, if in a geeky "I love grammar" type of way) I've been keeping my eye out for some misused quotation marks. I found the perfect sign today but I didn't have my camera. Plus I was driving down a pretty busy street and it was out the passenger window. Anyway, it said: Handsome Mechanic "Now on Duty" I guess the handsome part is definite but whether or not he's actually on duty is iffy. So if you are in the 70th and Van Dorn area with your camera please take a picture of it and send it to me!! :) (I'm only half kidding!)

I'm a Believer

So I admit it, I was a Milkworks sceptic. (Milkworks is a breastfeeding center where they have classes and consultants to help moms and babies with nursing.) I took a breastfeeding class there when I was pregnant with Samuel and it was okay but really how much can you learn about breastfeeding until you have a baby to nurse? And they're into wearing your baby and cloth diapers and organic, not-so-mainstream stuff. So I avoided going there, preferring to figure out breastfeeding on my own. Which I did. Until Philip. He didn't nurse well and lost weight and lost weight but still, I put off going. Having to pay to have someone tell me how to do something I'd already figured out three times annoyed me. But we couldn't figure it out. Obviously. We ended up in the hospital partly because of my pride. So we went and they were pretty helpful, mostly just with knowledge and encouragement though. Until today. Today at 10:30 am or so Dr. L clipped his tongue (the little flap of skin underneath that was too far forward to be precise). And he hasn't had a bottle since.

Praise the Lord! I promise not to doubt Milkworks again.

Mary's Month

The kids gave Mary these flowers from the yard. Hopefully we'll have a real May crowning before the month is over!

I made this Tea Wreath for my mom for Mother's Day. I didn't let the kids help on this one because I wanted it to turn out really nice. I like tea too but I think I'd like to make one for myself and clip pictures to it. You could clip lots of different things to it, there's lots of fun potential I think. It was pretty easy to make, the instructions are here.

Sometimes it's easier to get your picture with each kid separately! That's Lynn's MIL holding Philip in the grandma picture- her grandson is still in the womb, which makes it difficult for her to hold him!

PreK Graduation

Thomas had his PreK graduation last night. They don't get done with school until the 14th but I think PreK graduation is pretty low on the list of things that need the gym at the end of the school year so they do it early.

His class sang Jesus Loves me and Have you Ever Gone a-Fishin' very enthusiastically if not very musically. His bow will make Aunt Lynn proud (notice it at the end of the song in the video). He got his diploma and now he is ready for kindergarten!

May Day

Since Jeremy had to work late Friday night and most of the day Saturday we made Marian themed May Day baskets to keep us busy. Delivering them isn't quite the same when you have to drive though. It's hard to hide a car. We got caught at 2 out of the 3 places where our friends were home when we delivered them. Oh well, we still had fun.
