Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary. Pope Benedict XVI

Happy Birthday Philip!

Happy 13th Birthday to Philip!  We love you!
It's only a matter of time before he looks completely teenager-y.  He's already started to grow...

And now we have four teenagers until Sam turns 20 in August!

Amazing News for Thomas!

He was awarded a Walter Scott Jr. Career Path Scholarship at Central Community College!  It will cover tuition, room and board for both years of his Associate's Degree!!  He plans to study Construction and some business as well.

When he first visited CCC last fall they told him about the scholarship, which is based on leadership skills.  We knew he had some good leadership activities on his resume so we encourage him to apply.  He sent off his application in late February and made it into the interview round.  He had a 15 minute Zoom interview on Saturday and found out Monday that he was selected!  The scholarship focuses on career and trade students and is awarded to something like 24 kids a year.  They are required to live in a dedicated, on-campus dorm, regularly meet with the Scott Pathway Director, participate in various leadership learning opportunities and have some sort of internship or apprenticeship over the summer as well as various academic requirements.

We are so proud of you Thomas and are excited to see the benefits this scholarship brings you!

Some Holiness in the Middle of All the Wrestling

Philip was Confirmed!  He choose St. Patrick as his Confirmation saint, in part because of his birthday and hopefully also because St. Patrick is an inspiration to him.  After a lot of thinking he choose a family friend from church, Sam Lombardo, as his Sponsor.  His initial thought was Uncle Logan but since Logan is his Godfather, I encouraged him to choose someone who wasn't already praying for him!  Sam will be a great choice!

The Confirmation Mass was beautiful and we have a parishioner who's a photographer so she graciously took the pictures so parents didn't have to! (Please note the adorable little brother servers...and the very reverent incenser.)

There was a cookie reception and pictures afterwards.

Samuel wasn't able to make it, we did not forget him this time.

With his sponsor, Sam.

With Grandma and Grandpa.

There were quite a few kids Confirmed!  It's three grades 5-8.

May the Holy Spirit fill your heart and guide your life, Philip!

A Great End

We always have a wrestling banquet but it was extra special this year.  Since the wrestling team was runner up the Athletic Boosters hosted a banquet to celebrate.  The brand-new banner was on display along with the trophy.  All their names are on the trophy, even Philip and the other student managers.

Ahem, confession:  Samuel also came to the banquet to celebrate.  He was across the room when we took this family pic.  Apparently we are pretty used to him being at college because none of us remembered to call him over.  Oops.

Since the NSAA provides individual medals, team medals are not given out.  But the Boosters were kind enough to have them made for the team!  What a great moment!

The student managers got a medal too!

The whole team with the trophy, medals and banner!

The seniors with their medals and trophy.

Brothers.

With his hardwear and senior award.

Congratulations Thomas! (And Philip, we know all that stat taking was important!)

Wrestling Districts- Cavalry Club Wrestling

I used to call Cavalry "little kids" wrestling but it goes to 8th grade and Nick and Philip aren't so little anymore...

Nick went into districts hoping to make it to state but he had a hard bracket and went 0-2.  He was disappointed for a bit but after about 15 minutes he asked for money to go buy lunch from the concession stand so I knew he was over it.

Philip had a great day and came in 2nd so he is headed to state!

Congratulations Philip!
