Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary. Pope Benedict XVI

Some Other Fun

When you work at a salon you get to do fun things with your hair for hte summer.  It's a purple-blue color down there on the ends.  She's super happy about it.

Grandma Susan got us an egg cooker.  Nicholas has discovered a love of hard boiled eggs.  I'd better up my egg buying by a dozen a trip now.
Playing with the portrait mode on my phone camera.

150 (+1)

Last year was supposed to be the big 150 year celebration in town.  Like everything else it was cancelled because of covid but we got to celebrate this year!!

Both outdoor movies got cancelled because of rain but in an ag community we only complain so much about things getting cancelled when it rains.

Friday the littles and I enjoyed the parade and ice cream.  Jeremy drove a little tractor in the parade.
Saturday we there were all sorts of vendors and food trucks.  Julia scored a couple treasures and the boys enjoyed mountains of ribs.

Sunday was the big day for us.  Grandpa Steve was in charge of a big tractor show at the dealership.  Jeremy helped with lots of set up and the rest of us spent all of Sunday there filling in whatever jobs needed to be done.  Everyone's favorite job was driving around the mower and wagon selling water to benefit the tractor 4H club.  There were over 150 pieces of equipment.

It was a great show and so fun to be out in the community again.

Company Picnic

Julia, Nicholas, Jeremy and I enjoyed Jeremy's company picnic.  The other boys were at wrestling camp.

The park had this throwback slide.  Nick was impressed how fast it was but also hot!  Yep, burn your buns hot but SOO fun.

They got to swim in the pool too.

Nick made friends with one of Jeremy's coworkers sons.  They live less than a mile from us but the two boys hadn't met because they don't go to the same school.  We'll have to invite Grady over because the two of them had a ball together.

Looking Good

Jeremy put in the floor in the basement a couple weekends ago!

Last week Jeremy spied a pop up rug sale he thought I should go to.  I recruited Becca to come with me since the whole thing seemed slightly sketchy and I don't make big purchases well by myself.  I scored this rug pretty cheap as far as rugs go.  It's a Costco reject.  There's two poop brown threads sewn into it.  I'll either cut them out or put them under the couch.

Fireplace and mantle, trim, bar, furniture and wall hangings left to go!

Summer Fun

We enjoyed the park that's close to the salon Julia cleans one day when we had to go pick her up.

We rode our bikes from the red barn to the library.   It's probably a 4 or 5 mile round trip.  The half hour stop at the air conditioned library is super helpful to making it the whole way without burning out.

Julia and I have walked around the lake a couple times now.  One day we found this little friend.

Philip and Nicholas made an indoor obstacle course.

One of Philip's friends came over for the afternoon after football camp.  They got out the tree climbers and put them on a mulberry tree for better access to the abundant crop of berries this year.

I was treated to a pedicure by Julia.

And we had our first fire of the summer.

What Would You Do for a Blizzard?

Nick will promise to clean out the window well but peter out part way through.

even when the big brother offers advice
Maybe I can get him to finish up next week.

My Favorite Cooks

Okay, my favorite cooks are anyone who aren't me, but I'm especially partial to these three.
Hot Roast Beef and Cheese (big size) sliders

Calzones and bread sticks

And Whoopie Pies the next day because she's a slow cook.

Crab Rangoon Pizza with Chocolate Bundt Cake

Mexican Street Corn pizza made by me.  5 stars for looks 0 stars for taste as in it had zero flavor.  Very disappointing.
