Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary. Pope Benedict XVI

Operation Bunny Rescue

So we're having our sidewalk poured today!  (Which is a different story, more on that when it's finished.)  They did all the prep work yesterday and while the boys were watching out the window I noticed the workers all peering down our window well.  When the big kids got home they reported they had discovered a bunny nest the day before up next to the house in between the two window wells.  Putting two and two together I went outside and discovered five baby bunnies down one window well and two down the other.
Now our yard definitely doesn't need seven more bunnies, however the idea of all of us watching them starve and decompose was even less appealing so we implemented Operation Bunny Rescue.
Philip and Julia happily volunteered to go down the holes.  Philip went to get the two.  He caught one pretty easily but the other got jumpy so Thomas went down to help corner it.
Julia went down the second window well and Thomas helped too.  Those bunnies proved easier to catch.

The kids all loved holding the bunnies for a little bit (except Samuel who was inside engrossed in a book), especially my animal loving Julia and Nicholas.  Not wanting to have to rescue bunnies again today we relocated them to the burn pile.  There was one bunny left in the nest and we didn't want to leave him by himself so we relocated him too.
Later that evening I saw the momma bunny sniffing at the now empty nest so I sent Thomas out to chase her to the burn pile so she could find her babies.  I'm not sure if I'm rooting for them to survive or not...but at least they have a chance.

Good Morning's Work

I borrowed Raleen's sewing machine, brought out my (minimal and extremely rusty) sewing skills and made these curtains for the bathroom.

Five straight seams on each one (five because I put a cute little header at the top) I can handle.  I just gathered them with ribbons and stuck on the premade flowers.  I'll try not to be too prideful about them.  :)

Could I Get That in a Window Cling?

A Little Decorating

We only had four nails on this wall so we added a fifth (after two years of having 5 children....) and we put in nails for the icons of the kids' patron saints to go along the top.  Only problem is my sisters gave the big boys theirs for their First Communions.  By the time we get to Nicholas' First Communion Samuel will be a senior.  (Also *fingers crossed* maybe we'll knock out the plaster and have drywall by then?)  Maybe I'll have to speed up the process. How do you feel about that Lynn and Beth?  :)
I spent so much money at Portrait Innovations I got a couple of their "free" decorators.  Since the picture frame with 6 year old pictures in it broke I figured I might as well hang them.  I just stuck them up with removable Velcro tabs to see if I liked it before going through all the work of putting more nails in the plaster.  Any suggestions on how to (cheaply) make the words cuter than just printing them?

I liked the saying because I do tend to tell my kids "You are my favorite (insert their name here) in the whole world!"

Quotable

Mom! This is Jesus on His cross.
M:  Nicholas you're cute.
N:  No my coot, you coot.
N:  Look bus!
M:  Are you going to drive a bus when you get big?
N:  No my drive bus.  Too hard.

Hard at Work

They made a new dresser with minimal help.
These guys made a shelving unit.

He's working on basement framework things.

Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles

Philip got these (kind of gross) long lasting bubbles that are (sticky and) strong enough to catch on your finger.

 Addy thought it was hilarious.
