New Stuff

Here are a couple pictures of the finished trim in our bedroom. They don't really do it justice, it looks nicer than the picture. We also got new windows upstairs. Jeremy had talked to me about getting them an he even told me he had the guy order them but my pregnant brain forgot. So the windows came in and the guys arrived at 8:20 this morning to install them. They were were done by 12:20, much to Thomas's disappointment. He was hoping rest time would be disrupted. The windows look nice and should be more energy efficient than the old ones. Jeremy will have to stain them sometime.
The windows just happened to come in and the guys could put them in today which worked out great because... drum roll please... I'm being induced tomorrow! Say some extra prayers for us please.

Double Meaning

"Do you stink?" I asked Julia today.
"Nope!" she replied emphatically
"I think you're lyin', " I told her.
So she roared like a lion for me.

Almost Done!

With my pregnancy and our bedroom! (I know they are both in the same category of importance, huh?) Dr. H's office is supposed to call this afternoon and let me know when the hospital has room for me to be induced. It will be Wednesday or later because Wed is when I am "officially" 39 weeks.

Jeremy has been working feverishly to finish up the trim in our bedroom for the last two weeks. The last time someone redecorated they put a very thick layer of paint over all of the very nice trim work. Jeremy pulled it all off, stripped and sanded it and now has it back up. The mopboards are actually three pieces, quarter round, a tall, flat piece and the top fancy part. (Don't get confused by my technical terms for all of this!) Adam Q was kind enough to make us new quarter round because most of the original splintered when Jeremy pulled it off. It's 1 inch by 1/2 inch which is not made anymore so we couldn't just buy it at Menard's. So this weekend Jeremy got it all put back on and, with the help of my dad and his mom, got it stained and put one coat of varnish on. He'll put a second coat of varnish on tonight. Then the only thing left will be the ornate pieces that go above the windows and doors. They have a strip of beading on them so they are more work to get the paint off of and I assume will be a little harder to varnish with all the crevices to deal with. I forgot to snap a picture before Julia went down for her nap in there so I'll post one later. It looks really nice. We're very happy with how well the trim stain goes with the flooring. I helped putty in nail holes and Julia really wanted to help too. She got to "putty" on this board with some play doh. It was hilarious and it kept her busy for about 20 minutes! I think she'll be ready for real puttying next time. :)

PS Blogger's spell check knew that I had spelled Menard's incorrectly! Impressive!

A Couple Projects

We did a couple of projects while the boys were on Spring Break. We made these shamrocks and talked a little about the Trinity. Each boy drew a symbol of a Person of the Holy Trinity and cut out a picture of St. Patrick to go with it. Samuel knew more symbols from school but I thought Thomas did a nice job cutting.

We made these sun catchers from Family Fun. They are kind of like tin types. It's hard to see how they turned out in these pictures but they are pretty cool. We did crosses since it's Lent. Samuel did the yellow one, Thomas did the red and I did the yellow. Since it involves poking little holes in paper with a tack Julia didn't get to make one!

Baby Update

Baby weighed in at 8 lbs, head down but on his back. I'll talk to Dr. H Monday at my normal appointment and we'll see what's up from there.

Next Week?

I have an ultrasound scheduled for Thursday to check the baby's size. If he's 8 pounds or over Dr. H will probably induce me late next week. Ultrasounds can be a pound off, up or down, but even if it says the baby is 8 pounds and he's really 7, he'll still be pushing 9 pounds in two weeks. Dr. H said the biggest concern with big babies is actually their shoulders being too wide and told me a little too much about the complications that can cause. I'll spare you the details. Anyway, keep us in your prayers!

An Adventure in Bribery

So I'll admit it, I bribed the kids. After the influx of new toys from Julia's birthday we needed to do some major picking up. Also Samuel had today and yesterday off because the Neumann girls made it to state and he has next Thursday and Friday off for spring break so I was feeling like we needed an adventure to fill one of the days. I told the boys if they helped clean up the whole downstairs with out complaining or throwing any fits we'd try out "Lost in Fun." It's similar to Boingz where Jeremy took them a while back except it has only three bouncers but also has three big indoor playsets. It also has a "space pit" which is full of foam blocks. It was a little more expensive per kid than Boingz but when you have three or more kids you get 15% off so it worked out to be about the same. It's a longer drive though because it's about as far south as you can get without leaving town.
So we picked up the entire downstairs and headed out. We had to stop at Menards to get some things for Jeremy. I had to ask two different sales guys questions and got the impression from both of them that I was slightly crazy for shopping with my three kids while about to give birth any moment. (Not that I really think this baby is coming early, I just think they thought I might go into labor in front of their very eyes.) Anyway we got all Jeremy's things, dropped off some boxes at CSS that have been waiting at least a month to get out of the house, had some lunch and got to Lost in Fun about 12:45, maybe a little later.
The kids had a lot of fun. It was our normal rest time so Julia and Thomas both were a little slower than they might have been but that was fine with me! They really didn't bounce all that much, they really enjoyed the playsets and Samuel spent a lot of time in the space pit. When it was time to leave Julia kept climbing back up to slide "one more." She'd start up the ladder and then look back at me and say "one more" holding up one little finger. It was so cute she got about ten "one mores" but we weren't in a hurry. We left about 3:30, very exhausted. I'm not sure the boys thought it was a super exciting adventure, but it was fun and a great way to use up a lot of energy. I'll definitely keep it in mind for future cold day adventures. I think we could have more (cheaper) fun other places in the summer though.

Julia had a hard time maneuvering in the space pit but Samuel loved it. It had a black light to make a "space" look and Samuel did not appreciate my camera's flash. Thomas and Julia enjoyed sliding down the big inflatable slide a few dozen times (well maybe a little less than that!).
